Political Volunteer Management and Engagement Software ©
Company Overview
Volunteers are the backbone of political campaigns, wielding the ability to significantly impact the state of a municipality, province, or even a country. Yet political campaigns continue to use ineffective and outdated methods for managing, contacting, and engaging these supporters such as relying on spreadsheets and cold calling. This is where Loop comes in.
Being politically active since 2015, I felt the need to address this gap in the market for a volunteer management and engagement software designed to address the specific needs of political campaigns. Loop offers innovative features such as incentives, digital volunteering options, and a community-focused social network feed. This shift in approach focuses on enhancing the volunteer experience which increases engagement, ultimately helping political campaigns win elections.

Project Scope
As an eight-month-long thesis project, I devoted the first 4 months of this project to research. My research found that for political campaigns to increase volunteer engagement, they must effectively use technology, understand volunteer motivations, and leverage social networks to increase recruitment and retention.
I spent the next 4 months developing the visual identity and brand strategy for Loop. My goal was to create a user-friendly website and app designed to engage volunteers on political campaigns. The website and app are supported by marketing material such as a product web page and targeted digital collateral.
Brand Idea & Tone
The brand idea I developed for Loop is simple: engage volunteers, win elections. Because at the end of the day, campaigns have one goal—to win.
If there’s one thing political campaign administrators don’t have, it’s time. That’s why I crafted easily digestible messaging for potential customers of any political level or expertise. The tone is conversational and relatable, ensuring the specific needs of political campaign administrators are heard.
Visual Identity
This platform is all about keeping volunteers in the loop—hence the name. Loop also represents a close-knit group of volunteers and the ongoing nature of the engagement cycle. The software will strengthen your campaign’s volunteer base, making them more likely to show up, make connections, and come back.
I designed the logo to reflect volunteers joining together for a shared goal while symbolizing the momentum of political campaigns. The branding is bold and energetic with a non-partisan bright yellow as the primary colour. The custom suite of illustrations I designed, as well as the software interface, allows each campaign to customize Loop according to their candidate’s colours.
The Platform
I designed the website to appeal to a wide range of volunteers as well as accounting for scalability since campaigns significantly differ in size and resources. The main pages have the following functions:
• Dashboard gives volunteers an overview of their progress and upcoming responsibilities
• Shift and Task pages are where to find volunteer opportunities
• Leaderboard encourages friendly competition among volunteers
• The Community page is where volunteers find social posts and interact with others
• In-app messaging allows for communication across volunteers and admin
• Account page allows volunteers to adjust their information and preferences.
Try Today, Buy Today!
To support promoting Loop, I designed a landing page targeted towards campaign administrators showing off everything the service has to offer. Due to the fast-paced nature of political campaigns, one of the biggest pain points of my competitors is the initial time commitment. That’s why Loop’s website will have a self-guided demo where potential customers can walk through the product themselves rather than having to book a consultation. Try it out for yourself!
